I discovered that we have raccoons in our neighborhood too - last week there was a dead one in the road. Bet he was the pesky bugger stealing my tomatoes!
About a month ago I saw his bloated little body by the neighborhood entrance on the side of the road, which is the only reason I know it's a raccoon. I thought he would have been dragged off, but to my surprise, his skeleton was still there.
